About Monica
Monica Lozano Caldera is an educator, leadership coach, and equity strategist with more than two decades of experience working at the intersection of education, mental health, and community engagement. As the Founder and CEO of Lozano Strategies, she partners with schools, organizations, entrepreneurs, and small business owners to cultivate culturally responsive leadership, strengthen family and community engagement, and design equitable pathways for student and workforce success.
Monica began her career as a psychologist at the Pontificia Bolivariana University in Colombia, where she co-founded Creativity & Human Development, a private practice providing mental health services to families and youth. After immigrating to the United States, she served as a Mental Health Therapist in Maryland’s YMCA Linkages to Learning program and at the Crossroads Youth Opportunity Center and Arlington County Department of Human Services, supporting immigrant students and families through counseling and early intervention.
Monica has served as an Equity and Excellence Coordinator, building staff capacity in culturally responsive teaching and connecting students and families to academic and work-based learning paths as well social-emotional supports . Her leadership has earned multiple recognitions, including Teacher of the Year at both Swanson and Gunston Middle Schools and Educator of the Year by the American Association of University Women (AAUW).
A certified trainer in Seeking Educational Equity and Diversity (SEED), Results-Based Facilitation (RBF), and Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI), Monica integrates evidence-based practices with human-centered coaching to empower educators, leaders, and entrepreneurs to build inclusive, thriving organizations and communities.
Through Lozano Strategies, Monica continues her mission to bridge education, leadership, and workforce development by helping organizations design systems that honor culture, cultivate belonging, and expand opportunity.
